Juan has only himself to blame for his death. Or did he not mention his betrayal of our family when he explained what happened?

He has to carry the fault of his betrayal, yes, and it is a heavy one to be sure, but he is no more guilty for the act you carried out than he would be were he a prisoner and you his executor. If you feel it was just, then it is a matter to be sorted between you and God, but the weight of fraticide does not fall on him.

No, I did not say that. We are all accountable for our past actions. I have not yet killed my brother and with God's grace I never will.

God's grace has nothing to do with any of Juan's actions.

Not wholly, as I said he must accept the blame for them himself. I was not talking about him, however, but about how you--and how I--handle it.

Death has no hold here. So there is no danger of repeating his offenses, or mine.

There are other things we might do.

I am open to suggestions.

Then my only suggestion is to keep him out of trouble by keeping him under lock and key. It is the only way.

Surely you can think of a subtler way to accomplish the same goal. Remember, his actions here do not have the same consequences as back home.

That will only result in worse actions here. But I do not believe he is my problem any longer. He stopped being my problem the moment I had him go for a swim.

Fate seems to think otherwise.
